Common Questions about Acupuncture for Animals

Can acupuncture really help my animal?
Acupuncture can benefit a huge range of conditions in dogs, cats and horses, especially common conditions such as arthritis, unexplained or chronic lameness, respiratory problems (for example feline asthma) and behavioral problems that may not be well treated by conventional medicine. Acupuncture can really change animals' lives. These eBooks list many specific conditions that acupuncture can treat in dogs, cats or horses, together with scientific evidence that it works.

Will acupuncture hurt my animal?
Contrary to popular belief, acupuncture is not painful! Many animals even fall asleep during treatment. The ebooks explain why acupuncture is not generally painful and what to expect during a veterinary acupuncture consultation.

Is animal acupuncture effective?
Many scientific studies have proved that acupuncture has measureable, beneficial effects in humans, dogs, cats, horses and other animals. Each ebook contains about scientific studies on acupuncture and actual case studies of dogs, cats or horses from my specialized veterinary acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine practise.

What are the advantages of using acupuncture in addition to conventional medicine?
Using acupuncture in addition to conventional medicine can allow reduced drugs doseages and reduced drug side effects for your animal, as well as a more rapid improvement and long-lasting effect.

How do I find a veterinary acupuncturist?
For reasons explained in the eBooks, it is important to find a veterinary acupuncturist who is adequately trained and experienced in veterinary acupuncture, ideally a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (CVA). The eBooks explain the qualification system in the US, Canada and the UK and show you where and how to find a qualified acupuncturist for your animals.
Acupuncture Testimonials

L.B. talks about Oscar, her 3 year old cat:
'Oscar (my three year old cat) suffered with intermittent lameness for 12 months following a suspected road accident. Unfortunately he was unable to take conventional painkillers due to previously suffering adverse effects from them.'

'Lindsey first visited Oscar when his lameness was at its worst. Her calm, relaxed manner made Oscar feel at ease and content. The 1 hour treatment was completed successfully.'

'As expected, the acupuncture slightly exacerbated his symptoms for the first few days following the initial treatment. Oscar's symptoms then showed dramatic improvement. lameness seems to have completely resolved after two treatments. The treatment appears to be effective and without side-effects.'

D.W. on Ben, her 10 year old German Shepherd:
'I have been fascinated by Ben's (my German Shepherd) reaction to acupuncture. He does not seem to register any pain and therefore has no fear of the process; in fact, he seems to welcome it. He is always very pleased to see Lindsey and lies peacefully while she administers the needles.'

'After the treatment, Ben always seems very relaxed and usually lies dozing for about half an hour following it. His incontinence and arthritis have definitely improved through the acupuncture treatment.'
